Virtual Assistant FAQ

How can we help you?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a virtual assistant (VA)?

A virtual assistant is a skilled independent contractor who works from home, offers specific (or niched) remote services, and has years of work experience as an administrative assistant or office manager. VAs use a combination of online applications to complete their work and collaborate with their clients.

Although open to most tasks, I do not supply the following services:

  • Web & Mobile Design/Redesign (coming soon)
  • Accounting
  • Technical troubleshooting (outside of general updating)
  • Event Planning
  • Travel arrangements

Collaboration is the cornerstone of my working relationship with clients. Accordingly, I have accounts with the following online software tools:

  • Project Management: Asana, Trello, Wrike, Todoist, Chanty, Monday, and Google Tasks
  • File-Sharing: Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Evernote, and Zoho Docs
  • Video Conferencing: Google Meet, Zoho Meeting, Flock, Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Chanty, and Slack

I also have a client portal on the website for loading and downloading business documents and manuscript materials.

If there are other tools a client prefers to use, I am happy to accommodate them.

Although I have yet to land a business client, my prior work experience as an administrative assistant at other companies within various industries means I understand the requirements of business owners and managers. I have continual access to remote technology, which requires ongoing training to remain competitive. And finally, I own a small business and appreciate how difficult it can be to create and keep an online presence while adding new material for my chosen audience.

I believe the skills developed over the years will be a positive asset to any company that takes a chance on a new virtual assistant.

Absolutely. Just as any small business has administrative obligations, so does an author.

I have included Novel Planning Assistance as part of the virtual assistant services because I enjoy helping others work around difficulties and complete their projects. To me, working through the complexities of a novel means using innovative approaches to answer and correct problems.

I have been drafting multiple novels (as part of a series) for over twenty-five years. I understand the complications of weaving an intricate story between various characters with varying motivations. I also appreciate the difficulties of experiencing writer’s block and have approached others to help with brainstorming sessions. And although I have yet to publish my novels, that is due to my elevated expectations as a writer and where I want my books to go. Having another individual sit down and discuss your story to find what might be missing, where it can go, and how to include the information you want is most helpful. I have done the same and believe I can help others as well.
